Two Pennsylvania Regional Training Center athletes competed in international competitions last week, and both brought home medals.

On Saturday, Ryan Miller wrestled in the Junior Pan American Championships in Oaxtepec, Mexico. Miller, who earned a spot on the Junior Pan Am Team at 57 kg after a runner-up finish at the Junior World Team Trials in May, took silver, logging a 3-1 performance. En route to the finals, Miller picked up two technical falls and a 17-9 decision. For gold, he squared off with Cuba’s Osmany Diversent Martinez, dropping a tightly contest, 8-6, bout. Miller is an incoming freshman at the University of Pennsylvania.

PRTC Senior-level resident athlete Joey McKenna also took bronze at the Poland Open. McKenna turned in a 2-2 showing, falling to fellow American Yianni Diakomihalis, the eventual champion, in the semifinals and receiving a forfeit for bronze. This medal comes on the heels of a title-winning performance at the Pan Am Championships in Guatemala City, Guatemala last week. McKenna is currently ranked No. 1 in the world at 65 kg in United World Wrestling’s rankings, with 40 points accumulated.
