20 Years Later, Looking Back At The First Dave Schultz Memorial

The Dave Schultz Memorial International was founded in 1999 to honor the late Dave Schultz, an American wrestling legend, and one of the greatest ambassadors of the sport. Nearly 20 years later, the tournament has become a staple of the U.S. freestyle circuit. USA Wrestling has taken a look back at the original 1999 Schultz Memorial tournament in honor of the upcoming 20th anniversary. The tournament featured many prominent wrestlers who would go on to have future success including PRTC Head Coach, Brandon Slay, who was champion at 76 kg and would go on to win Olympic gold the following year in Sydney.
