Prtc Crowns Two Champions and Five Total Place Winners at U23 Northeast Regional Championships

Published May 18th, 2021 by PRTC Wrestling

The PRTC finished in first place as a team in the U23 men's freestyle division.

Over the weekend, the Pennsylvania RTC sent 18 individuals to compete in the U23 Northeast Regional Championships in Pocono Manor, Pa. The wrestlers competed in freestyle, putting on a strong performance as they netted five placements and two individual titles.

Neil Antrassian earned the tournament’s outstanding wrestler honors after running through the 86 kg bracket in dominant fashion. Antrassian logged a 4-0 record, earning three technical falls and outscoring his opponents, 33-0, en route to his title. Antrassian wrestles collegiately for the University of Pennsylvania.

The PRTC’s other champion was Parker Kropman at 74 kg. Kropman, a two-time NCAA qualifier entering his senior season for Drexel, went 5-0 in his bracket.

At 70 kg, Jared Donahue finished runner-up, turning in a 3-1 performance. Donahue will be a senior at Drexel next season.

The other two wrestlers to make it onto the podium were fourth-place finishers Antonio Mininno and John Stout at 57 kg and 86 kg respectively. Mininno, a 2020 NCAA qualifier for Drexel, put together a 3-2 record, while Stout, who competes collegiately for Penn, went 4-2.

Overall, the PRTC finished first place in the team race, edging out the Cleveland RTC by one point and finishing ahead of other prominent clubs and RTCs such as Mat Town USA, the New Jersey RTC and the NYCRTC.

The PRTC will gear up again next week, May 27-29, for the U23 World Team Trials in Lincoln, Neb.
